Leave Safe Stay Safe is a specialist service providing wrap around legal and social support to women prisoners affected by family and domestic violence.
This State Government initiative is being trialled in two West Australian prisons over the next three years. The aim is to provide women prisoners who have experienced family and domestic violence a pathway to safety when they are released.
What does the program involve?
Relationships Australia WA will provide social support including case management, group programs, risk assessments and safety planning before and after release.
Gosnells Community Legal Centre and Regional Alliance West will provide legal support, including help with the Family Court, child custody arrangements and applying for family violence restraining orders.
The women engaged in the pilot will also learn about online safety from women's services network WESNET.
