LGBTQIA+

LGBTQIA+

Relationships Australia recognises the wide diversity in human relationships and respects equally all types of relationships. We are committed to social justice, inclusion, and respecting the rights of all people in their diversity.

We support the right of the LGBTQIA+ community and their families to have a sense of belonging and connection, to live with safety and dignity and to enjoy healthy relationships.

All of our services are available to LGBTQIA+ individuals and we provide a safe, supportive environment for couples and individuals to work on their relationship concerns as well as their own personal issues.

The majority of lesbian, gay, bi, trans, intersex and queer (LGBTIQ+) people lead happy, healthy and fulfilling lives. However, studies have found that LGBTIQ+ people face up to twice as much violence and abuse (including emotional, mental, physical and sexual) than heterosexual people. This prejudice and discrimination can have a wide range of impacts including putting additional pressure on couple relationships, and leading to a greater likelihood of depression, anxiety and suicide.

Our counsellors and educators are skilled and experienced in working with people who belong to the LGBTQIA+ community.  Our staff provide a safe, supportive environment for LGBTQIA+ couples and individuals to work on their relationship concerns as well as their own personal issues.

We are open at all times to any feedback that can be given by members of the LGBTQIA+ community to improve our services.
