Child Contact Service videos help prepare parents/carers and children

Relationships Australia WA's Child Contact Services (CCS) plays an important role in fostering safe and positive interactions between children and their parents/carers following separation and divorce, and strengthening these relationships.

Our CCS and marketing teams have worked together to prepare a new video series giving parents/carers and children a glimpse into the various stages and what to expect when engaging with CCS.

These informational videos include:

  • Intake Assessment
  • Child Orientation
  • Supervised Time
  • Changeover Services

What is the Child Contact Service?

This service provides safe and supportive ways for children to transition between separated parents/carers via supervised changeovers, or to maintain a relationship with the parent they do not live with via supervised time.

The child-focused changeover and supervision service aims to help parents/carers facilitate their contact arrangements  in ways that reduce stress and increase safety for their children and themselves.

How does it work?

Both parents are required to contact the service. To maintain our independence we do not initiate contact with parents.

Individual assessments to discuss concerns and requirements, and to assess for suitability for service are held when we are able to offer a service.

To allow for more families to use the service, supervised contact generally occurs fortnightly, for a maximum of two hours.

Where are our CCS’s located?

Our Child Contact Services are located in Fremantle, Gosnells, Midland and Mandurah  and are funded by the Australian Government's Department of Social Services.
