Relationships Australia WA celebrates the strength of diverse communities, and acknowledges and respects the cultural, spiritual and economic sovereignty of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander People as the traditional custodians of the land on which we all live. We are a signatory to Relationships Australia's "Framework For Action" - our national commitment to Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Peoples. From the 3rd July we are pleased to support the NAIDOC Week celebrations.
NAIDOC Week is a great opportunity to participate in a range of activities and events to support your local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community.
The 2022 theme is Get Up! Stand Up! Show Up! Whether it’s seeking environmental, cultural and heritage protections, Constitutional change, truth-telling, working towards treaties, or calling out racism—we must do it together.
This year Relationships Australia WA’s Djinda Service will be participating two events:
- NAIDOC Week Perth Opening Ceremony Sunday 3rd July, 1-5pm, Wellington Square Gardens.
This is the official launch of the celebrations of NAIDOC Week in Perth. There will be community stalls, children’s activities, traditional food and Elder’s Marquee, as well as continuous performances by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists and performers.
- Outer North NAIDOC 2022 celebration Friday July 8, 10 -2pm, The Point Merriwa.
Celebrate NAIDOC Week with cultural dances and crafts, live music, face painting and a talent quest showcasing local youth talent.
We hope to see you there and join us in celebrating the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
