Intercountry Adoptee and Family Support Service

The Intercountry Adoptee and Family Support Service (ICAFSS) is a free service that provides counselling and case management services to assist individuals and families manage the complexities and unique challenges that intercountry adoption may pose during a lifetime.

Who is eligible for the ICAFSS?

Support is available for adoptees and families formed by intercountry adoption, and for adoptions by expatriate Australians while living overseas:

The service is available to:

  • Young and adult adoptees
  • Adoptive parents
  • Prospective adoptive parents
  • Families of adoptees, including siblings, partners and children, when their need for support relates to an adoptee’s experiences of intercountry adoption.

What services are available?

Free resources and information about intercountry adoption is available for adoptees, adoptive parents and teachers. You can also access free counselling, therapeutic care, support services and case management, including referrals and linkages with other services in the community.

How can I access this service?

The Australian Government has funded Relationships Australia South Australia to provide this nationwide service. If you live in Western Australia and you would like to access this service, contact the friendly team in South Australia and they will put the necessary arrangement in place with us is our Perth office, located in West Leederville.
