What is Safety4families?

Safety4families is an interactive game designed for children aged 6-10 years, who have experienced domestic violence and are in need of mental health support.

Safety4families has been created by Relationships Australia WA’s experienced 4families mental health team, as a way for your child to explore and validate their feelings and emotions in a fun and safe way. It aims to empower you and your child at home and help you to address any safety needs or concerns.

This fun and interactive game explains domestic violence and highlights to children that domestic violence is not ‘normal’ or an acceptable behaviour and if they are experiencing domestic violence they are not alone. It also provides helps them to plan and address their safety needs in situations where they are being exposed to domestic violence.

Mental health support services for children and families are in high demand and often there are long wait times. Relationships Australia WA’s 4families mental health team have developed this tool to support you and your family while you are receiving services or while you are waiting.

Safety4families should be used by children with support from a parent, safe adult or practitioner.
