Mental Health Accreditation contributes to continuous improvement

Relationships Australia WA was recently awarded full accreditation as part of the National Standards for Mental Health Services.

The audit, completed by Quality Innovation Performance Limited (QIP), is independent recognition that Relationship Australia WA’s practice and services meet the requirements of the national mental health standards.

Relationships Australia WA Executive Director Michael Sheehan said these accreditation standards are designed to support practitioners to develop their skills, knowledge and attitudes as part of their individual development.

“They also contribute to the continuous quality improvement of Relationship Australia WA’s mental health services in order to improve mental health outcomes for individuals, families and communities,” he said.

The standards that were assessed include:

  • whether the rights and responsibilities of clients affected by mental health problems are upheld by Relationships Australia WA
  • that activities and environment of our services are safe for clients, carers, families, visitors, staff
  • that clients and carers are actively involved in the development, planning, delivery and evaluation of our services
  • that we deliver services that take into account the cultural and social diversity of clients.
