Parenting Adolescents is a 5-week course aimed at parents, grandparents and caregivers of children aged approximately 11-15 years. The course offers parents and carers the opportunity to reflect on their parenting and develop skills in building a positive relationship with their adolescent.

You will explore:

  • The origins of your own parenting style and how it can be developed
  • The important messages you want to convey to your adolescent and how to achieve this
  • Brain development during the adolescent period and its influence on their thoughts, feelings, and actions
  • The meaning and context behind your adolescent’s behaviour and how to respond to the underlying emotions and needs
  • New ways of communicating with your adolescent
  • Ways to take care of yourself and find support when you need it

Parenting Adolescents is built on the foundational Bringing Up Great Kids program which was developed by the Australian Childhood Foundation.
