WA’s very own tall ship, the STS Leeuwin will set sail from Fremantle on February 29 for a three day getaway that promises to be an unforgettable family adventure and will give parents and teenagers memories to last a lifetime.
The first sailing of the new decade is going to be a fantastic opportunity to make new memories for life and is a great alternative to a family camping trip, with all meal catered for by on on-board chef.
You’ll experience things you have never done before – climbing the rigging of a tall ship, setting and furling the sails, taking the helm and standing watch during the night.
Being actively involved in all ship operations, you’ll discover new strength, a joy in working together and of communicating and laughing as you learn the intricacies of manoeuvring an 1850’s style 3-masted barquentine as a family.
Experienced facilitators from Relationships Australia WA will also be on board to help families strengthen their connections and increase the flow of communication, in a safe, supportive and fun environment.
Relationship educator Sue Aspin said this very special Leeuwin sailing voyage will provide a unique environment for family connection.
“There is no doubt that negotiating the teenage years can sometimes be challenging and occasionally even overwhelming.
“Learning how to communicate and connect well in a family is essential for family stability and happiness.
“For some families, this voyage may set the tone for a whole new way of relating to each other and for others, it will help cement their skills and reaffirm their bonds.”
The highly experienced Leeuwin crew will provide the support participants need on board to ensure a safe and incredibly fun adventure. You’ll be challenged. You’ll be tired. But most importantly you’ll feel exhilarated by this unique experience and for having shared a simply amazing weekend together.
