Who can attend counselling?
Children can attend counselling from 3 years old, and our staff are trained to provide counselling that is sensitive and appropriate for the specific age, development and situation of the child or young person. We also provide counselling for families, including couples and individuals, and are experienced working with families from a range of social circumstances and cultural backgrounds.
What is the counselling process?
In the first session, counsellors will discuss concerns with parents and explore factors that may be influencing the situation. We then work with the child or young person to discuss the issues and to assist them to develop the understanding and skills required to manage the situation.
What sort of issues can you help with?
Matters discussed may include anxiety and fears, family separation, self-esteem, grief and loss, childhood abuse, trauma, conflict with others, or issues relating to school.
What qualifications do your counsellors have?
Our Joondalup counselling team all hold a Master of Counselling and have many years’ experience. We meet the requirements set by the Australian Government and receive regular training and supervision to ensure high standards of service. We use a range of established counselling approaches to ensure positive outcomes, based on what is appropriate for each client.
