Djinda Service

Djinda Service

Relationships Australia WA is proud to deliver Djinda Service to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women and children experiencing family violence.

We are an Aboriginal service with personal and professional experience and understanding of family violence.

Family violence is not just physical or sexual abuse. It also includes emotional, financial, social and cultural abuse. It can be from a current or former partner or from a family member. It makes women feel afraid and can stop them from doing things, like seeing family or friends. It can also hurt children.

Djinda is a Noongar word meaning ‘star’. The stars represent us as women who guide our families, shine brightly, survive against the odds and are strong in our determination to keep our families safe.

How can we help?

We provide advocacy and support for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women and children in the Perth metropolitan area who have experienced family violence and/or sexual assault.

In addition to face-to-face meetings, we can provide referrals to a range of services and offer practical support where needed.

We can also provide community education and information to raise awareness and as a way of preventing family violence.

How much will it cost?

Nothing. We provide a free, confidential service.
